Do you need to apply for bail?

In some circumstances, police will release you on bail from the police station. On other occasions, you may be required to appear before the court who will decide whether to grant you bail based upon the seriousness of the offence(s), your prior history, personal circumstances and whether or not you are considered a flight risk (e.g., if the court might decide you are likely not to appear at your next court date).

Fixed fees are available on most Magistrates and District court bail applications. However, the cost for legal presentation at Supreme Court bail applications will always depend upon the complexity of your matter.
